Welcome to our web site.

The village of Saint-Oyen has not hesitated in incorporating a new means of communication. Because that is what it's all about, communicating. Communicate with Saint- Oyen. Communicate with the people attached to the village but who no longer live here. Communicate with our friends in Val d'Aoste or Canton de Vaud. Communicate with all the people who are interested in discovering the advantages of our village.

We want this web site to be easy to use and filled with information: the history of Saint Oyen, a presentation of the village, administration issues, official documents, projects and more.

Some information may not be available online yet, but more content will be added soon. Before continuing your visit on the web site, please let me introduce you to the village of Saint- Oyen. Saint- Oyen is one of the smallest municipalities in the Savoie province with 211 hectare of land.

Saint- Oyen is a unique village different from the neighbouring ones that are constituted of widespread hamlets. It is situated on the left bank of the river Torrent de Morel at an altitude of 586 meters. Saint- Oyen dominates the Aiguesblanche basin, which in the beginning of the 20th century was named " the garden of Tarentaise ".

There are currently 194 inhabitants in the village, most of them between 20 an 59 years old. Saint-Oyen used to be an agricultural community, but now the economy is centred round a few local craftsmen.

The community's main assets are rather its splendid environment, its ideal location, its population, and its numerous voluntary organisations. Altogether this makes Saint Oyen a very attractive place to live.

The closing of the village primary school in 1999 is regrettable but after all its only 2 kilometres to the school in Bellecombe which is served by school bus. Saint-Oyen is, if I dare say a village where it's good to live.

Enjoy your visit to our web site!
